Francesco Bearzatti Quartet

ITALY

Francesco Bearzatti Quartet

  • 21:30 - 22:40 ч.

Listening to rock and punk rock legends left an indelible impact on the young Bearzatti, who grew up in the Friuli province of northern Italy. He devoted several years to rock and pop music, performing in local nightclubs and recording electronic music that continues to infuse much of his work.

Among his earliest and formative experiences was the album 'Live At Vartan' (1995) and the subsequent US tour with the first Russian trumpeter to break onto the American scene, Valery Ponomarev, and versatile drummer Ben Riley, best known for his work with Thelonious Monk. In 1994, Bearzatti formed the Kaiser Lupowitz Trio with Enrico Terranioli on guitar and Zeno De Rossi on drums.

Bearzatti's projects are numerous and diverse. It is this ability to combine his works with a versatile and restless culture that has attracted the attention of the Academy of Jazz. Experimentation is what he does best, and in Gianluca Petrella's Indigo 4 (2004) he helps the trombonist define genre definitions and create music that is "fresh, bold, strange, but effective, that's the new style!".

Israel

  • 19:30 - 21:30 ч.

Matan has performed numerous times at the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival and the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, where he has collaborated with international virtuosos such as Nicolas Stillo, Mirko Signorile and Rodrigo Ursaya.

In 2016, he was a soloist with the United Kingdom Jazz Flute Big Band, and his music and arrangements were performed at the 2016 London Jazz Festival. His critically acclaimed 2016 album Sound Tracks was approved and distributed by Helicon Records, as was his 2019 album entitled 'Wag the Mammoth in the China Store'.

Free Play Duo

Canada

Free Play Duo

  • 20:30 - 22:30 ч.

Dillon and Suba first met in Toronto in 1993, singing in a jazz choir at York University called "Wibijazz'n'": soon after, they began conducting the choir together. At their concert at the end of the year, Dillon and Suba performed an a cappella "director's duet," and thus FreePlay was born. What began as a typical jazz duo with voice and piano began to evolve: more instruments were added and more musical styles explored to create a duo unique in its musical depth and variety.

In 2007, FreePlay created the unique innovative style of live a cappella performance that brought them international acclaim.

Award-winning Dylan Bell and Suba Sankaran are international leaders in the world of a cappella singing, having worked with legends such as Swingles, Nylons and New York Voices. They have performed in over 20 countries on 6 continents and are co-artistic directors of SING! Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, Canada's only a cappella festival.

Germany/Bulgaria

Schwengler/ Liolev Bulgarian Quintet

  • 22:40 - 00:00 ч.

Matthias Schwengler stands out as one of the most versatile trumpeters of his generation, creating a unique and distinctive sound over the years. Constantly exploring new tones, he seamlessly blends jazz with sophisticated styles from the Balkans, Arab countries and Latin America, creating music with a rich and globally-infused character.

His ability to integrate these diverse influences sets him apart in the world of jazz. After studying at several European music conservatories, Matthias Schwengler now lives in Cologne, where he leads two of his own combo groups and is a member of various other groups.

Whether in pop performances with Moop Mama, Mark Forster, Jimmy Kelly and Stephanie Heinzman, or as lead trumpeter in various salsa and big bands, Matthias brings his rich, versatile sound to every performance. In his own bands, he has developed a distinctive chamber, dark sound, taking listeners on a journey through different cultures and musical landscapes.
